Welcome to Tableplop! This guide should get you started in how to create campaigns and run scenes with your players.

Campaigns

If you're a Game Master wanting to set up a game for you and your players you'll want to create a Campaign. With a campaign created you can invite players and create scenes and characters for that campaign.

Inviting players

On the campaign Page you will find an invite code near the end of the page under the Players heading.

This is a link your players can use to join the campaign. If they follow this link they will be able to make an account and be added as players.

Characters

Your campaign can include characters, these can be Player Characters (PCs) or Non-Player Characters (NPCs). Characters are created on the Campaign page under the Characters heading where you will find a button labeled "New Character". Players and Game Masters can both create Characters.

Characters can have stats, abilities, skills, saves, descriptions, an image and some saved messages. You can choose between a custom character type with a few example attributes or a pre-built 5e character sheet, you can customize both. You can have your players fill in their own characters, do this for them or leave it blank if you don't want to track character stats in Tableplop.

See Characters for more information.

Settings

If you created characters for your players you can assign their characters to them with the "player" setting. This will let them edit the character and also send chat messages as that character an move the character in Scenes.

For secret characters and NPCs you can set them to private so that players that don't control the character cannot see them in the campaign and their details like stats are hidden in Scenes.

The character will still be visible on the map in the scene as long as visible is enabled on the character's token in the scene.

Appearance

For the character's appearance you can upload a picture or re-use picture from your content or use one of the tableplop built-in images in your content. This will Change how your character is displayed in the scene and around Tableplop.

Saved Messages

Saved messages can be sent in chat in a scene. By default a few are filled out for you like saves and checks but you can add more for weapon and spell attacks for example, or as GM for bits of dialog like items for sale.
